Wow! I did not mean to take a break from blogging. Here is the truth guys: I have a lot going on. I share on Instagram, write quilt patterns, blog and have a YouTube channel. Let’s also face it-I am a serial hobbyist! I have so many things I do: from cooking to gardening, home decorating projects and more recently my cross-stitch.
I am also a perfectionist. I would rather skip posting or sharing if I can’t share it well. But maybe that radio silence is not the best approach. My posts had purpose and were for a reason. I have decided I will share here and all the places as I have in the past: just share. I don’t really create content-I just share what I do that day. I think that is why I have not blogged because blogging was a create content for me. I think from now on-I will just share what I did that week as I have done on instagram. It works for me and it means I show up!
Which leads me to my big announcement about a month ago!

This is our 5th child but FIRST surprise baby. It feels like a whole new experience. After our initial surprise set in, we were excited. After all, it’s been a while since we had a tiny baby and my first four were so close in age (all small) that this will be a time to enjoy the baby! I am due August 24th.
Of course, this addition of another child has led to many many questions-are you going to be Quiltingfor5?? I am going to change my name, website, Youtube channel and company name (WOW it is a lot to change) but it WON’T be Quiltingfor5. It is going to reflect more of what I share and how I share. Look for that change coming soon!

We have officially started the Great Scrap Quilt year long quilt along!! We are in month two (almost three) already. It is hard to believe that there are over 500 of you joining along! I am so humbled and excited that this has been such a fun quilt-along to join. I have been impressed with how many of you have already finished your quilts!
I have also LOVED seeing all the fabric pulls, scraps used, and overall design. Everyone is absolutely inspiring! I have made just three blocks of 36 so far and I might change my plan. Haha! What can I say-sometimes I just think it is going to look a certain way and then I realize I want to change. I had decided to do color-blocks. I would separate the scraps by color and have them as blocks. The first block of purples made me sure I would stick with that. However, as I made a pink and then a blue block-I realized that these colors all mixed together would look even better! I am pretty sure I am going to rip the first two blocks and just mix it all up.

Learned Cross-stitch and added Floss-Tube Episodes
I had wanted to learn to cross-stitch over the last year! I tried once and I just caught up in perfection and stopped. It took me a year to try again. I was forever inspired by Susan Ache on Instagram. She stitches the most beautiful pieces. She encouraged me to just pick it up and keep going. Forget about being perfect-just complete.

I did that with my smaller ornaments I had been stitching on. Just finish. Don’t worry about the back being perfect. It worked! I finished it and loved it. I had so much fun that I started my sampler I had had for over a year. I am still working on it. I have since visited a Cross-stitch store and I can’t believe I did not know those existed before this! I picked up lovely patterns and saw beautiful threads.
I have ordered a few samples of linen fabric, needles, some handmade embroidery hoops and of course patterns. I am smitten with Prairie School Santa patterns. Let’s just say that, like with quilts, seasonal stuff is going to be my thing.
I also started sharing my cross-stitch as FlossTube episodes on my YouTube channel. It has been a blast getting to share what I am working on, learning and looking forward to. I had sort of heard of FlossTube and now I am all in. In fact, I filmed the second episode here: Our newly completed library. It will be the studio where I film FlossTube.
The other thing I have been up to is home projects! Home design and home decorating have been my first love for as long as I can remember. We recently completed our home library. It was a kitchenette and we had it removed. I drew out a design and our contractor built it. I want to start sharing more of my home projects too since it is such a big part of what I like to do. A full blog post is on the way with details and lots of pics of the Gryffindor Inspired library.
That is about MOST things I have been up to. I hope to return soon with a new name and more to share.
