This quilt is my favorite pattern to date and is currently available in my Etsy shop. It is fat quarter and scrap friendly. It gets pretty addicting to make as I am currently on my fourth version!! It is for an advanced beginner since the hearts can require a bit of lining up.
This design was inspired by my four kids. I made one heart for each of them and the sizes are their ages: 10″ heart, 8″ heart, 6″ heart and a 4″ heart. When I was doing the fabric pull for this pattern, I knew I wanted it to be for my living room which has a lot of grey and blue.

If you like slow therapeutic sewing this is the pattern for you. It has lots of snowballing corners, which I quite enjoy doing. It also has THREE borders. I love borders because they add space, frame out and even add easy size to a quilt top. There is an inner border which allow the hearts to float in the quilt. There is also a scrappy border which I like because coordinating scraps can be used or whatever you have on hand. Finally there is an outer border which can either frame out the quilt or allow the scrappy border to float.

The quilting on this is amazing! It took me a while to decide but in the end I settled on this Baptist fan with a heart inside. I send my quilts to Kaitlyn at Knot and Thread Design and she does an excellent job plus she is great about communicating any design questions/ requests I have.

How wonderful is this minky backing? It is still quite cold in Ohio until May so I wanted something snuggly and soft. I also love the way minky quilts up and the pattern is so visible.

I am crazy about stripes for binding lately and this one is perfect! I had purchased this binding for this top but by the time I went to bind it (about 60 days after I made it) I had forgotten. Thank goodness, I ended up auditioning this from my “stash” and remembered. I need to start labeling my fabric pieces so I remember backing, binding, etc.
